How to Install Custom Firmware on your PSP.
As the title suggests, this tutorial will allow you to make a "Magic Memory Stick" to install custom firmware(CFW)/m33 on your psp.
Note: After you make the "Magic Memory Stick" you will need a Pandora battery, that you can get
from our store.
What's a "Magic Memory Stick" and why do I need it?
This is a common question. A "Magic Memory Stick," "MMS" for short, is a memory stick that has all the files necessary for a Pandora battery to work. Without the MMS, a Pandora battery alone cannot function correctly, as the same for MMS, without a Pandora battery, a MMS can only serve as a regular memory stick.
Once you create your magic memory stick ,you can easily convert back your magic memory stick into normal memory stick and put all your psp content on it.
With this software you have choice to install any custom firmware on your psp.
Step 1:Making a magic memory Stick
Before you start with your pandora kit, you require Simple MMS Maker v1.0
This is the program that we will be using.
Create a MMS using your computer. Also works with VISTA.
Requirements
- Windows 2000, XP, or Vista
- Official Firmware Update file for desired firmware.
Installation:
Part 1: Connect
1. Connect the PSP to your computer via USB cable.
Part 2: Simple MMS Maker v1.0
1. Download Simple MMS Maker v1.0.
2. Extract and you will get a file named "mms.exe" with a memory stick icon.
3. Run "mms.exe" and you should get this screen:
4. The "Target Drive" option should be the drive letter of your PSP.
5. Press "Backup" function to backup all the files in your memory stick because you will lose them.
6. After the backup is done, check "Format Memory Stick (Recommended)."
Part 3: Firmware/EBOOT [DC]
1. Choose which version of DC you want according to the CFW you want to install to your PSP. If you choose "4.01 OFW/M33-2 (DCv7)," you will need a 4.01 eboot; if you choose "3.90 OFW/M33-2 (DCv5)," you will need a 3.90 eboot; the same for the other DC versions. You can install any custom firmware version with mms maker on your psp.
2. You need to download the necessary eboots or firmware files which you will get from us.
3. Extract the eboot to your desktop
4. Once you have the eboot you need, make sure you have the right DC version in the drop down menu and then press "Load EBOOT" and choose the eboot on your desktop.
Part 4: Optional Settings and Components
1. Check the "USB Fake Version Plugin" option if you know you want the PSP to be able to go to the PSN Store. Otherwise, uncheck it.
2. Check the "1.50 Kernel Addon Installer" if you want the 1.50 Kernel. This only works for Phat PSPs and is not really necessary since most homebrew run on 3.xx/4.xx Kernel.
3. Choose the "Pandora Trigger Button" from the drop down list. This will be the button you will be holding to access the Pandora menu. Leave the "Custom Configuration" button alone since it is not necessary.
Part 5: Other Functions
1. Choose "Format & Inject IPL & Create Folders" from the drop down list of the "Other Functions" menu.
2. Press the "Execute Selected" button.
Part 6: Making the Magic Memory Stick
1. Press the "Make MMS" button now that you have all the options filled up.
2. Wait for the program to do its magic making.
3. Congratulations! You now have a MMS!
Step 2: Using your Pandora Battery
Note: You will need a Pandora battery for this part.
1. Insert the memory stick in the PSP.
2. Hold on to your chosen "Pandora Trigger Button."
3. Insert the Pandora battery. A menu should come up.
4. Choose the button that says "Install x.xx M33" according to your DC version. If you chose DCv7, choose "Install 4.01 M33-2."
5. Wait while it installs CFW on your PSP.
6. After it is done, reboot the PSP and go to the PSP's version. You should have 4.01 M33-2 if you chose DCv7.
